| Harold Ford and The Cash Band |
Tribute artist, Harold Ford has been involved his entire life with music in some way. Early childhood memories take him back to being around a father who was an engineer and expert banjo player that never toured and a mother that could play the piano well. His parents encouraged Harold and his sister to begin by harmonizing vocally around the age of five. As Harold got a little older he decided that he was going to learn how to play guitar and bought his first one at the age 14. That guitar cost him $4.00. While learning to play he found it difficult to place his fingers just right and forced himself to keep them in playing position all the while developing calous pads on his finger tips. He grew up on the west coast and started logging as a way of income and has traveled extensively through the lands helping clear trees that were killed by beetles. Cleaning the landscape of beetle kill trees helps prevent forest fires since they pose an elevated hazard of combustibility. Harold sang all the while and started hanging out at an open mic in Greenwich, NY and found that his vocals and music style was similar to that of the music legend, Johnny Cash. Harold pays tribute to Johnny by being a tribute artist since Johnny's way of life and philosophy is agreeable with Harold's life philosophies. Shortly after the open mic events he joined in with other music artists who are professionals, graduates of high degree and teachers of music and developed a tribute band called The Cash Band. The band has perfomed to sold out shows in music theatres and is anticipating a cd release by the end of the year or early 2011. Listen in to the interview to see and hear him and the band for yourself. You can find out more about Harold Ford and The Cash Band by visiting their site located at http://thejohnnycashband.com
